The release of growth factors occurs more slowly with PRF than PRP. The release of growth factors with PRP occurs for a few hours after injection, while PRF allows a longer and slower release of growth factors into the injected tissues for up to a week or longer.   PRF contains mesenchymal cells (multipotent stem cells) that can promote the regeneration of healthy tissues.  PRP does not contain mesenchymal cells and has fewer cells and no fibrin matrix to support slower growth factor release.
